Managed Wallets

If you use the platform's built-in managed wallet, you can opt in to automatic staking and weekly allocation voting through VeBetterDAO's native auto-voting.

Once you qualify to vote and have earned at least 1 B3TR, your account page offers automatic voting. You choose which apps to support, and Terrademia may stake rewards in your wallet and cast allocation votes for those apps. You can change apps or pause voting anytime in Account settings → Voting.

Your choice and VeBetterDAO rules

Terrademia follows the VeBetterDAO RuleBook for Apps (in-app governance / Integrity Rules):

  • Opt in when eligible — automatic voting is offered on your account once you qualify to vote and have at least 1 B3TR.
  • Choose apps — pick allocation-eligible apps on the account card or in Settings; Terrademia is pre-selected and you can add or remove others.
  • Opt out anytime — pause automatic voting in Settings; tokens stay in your wallet.
  • No vote-for-us multipliers — course rewards are not conditioned on voting for Terrademia.

How voting supports our platform

Terrademia's funding comes from weekly VeBetterDAO allocation rounds. The more votes the platform receives, the more B3TR it gets to pay out as course rewards. Managed wallets that have automatic voting enabled and earn rewards can support Terrademia each round. You choose which eligible apps to support; Terrademia is pre-selected when you first opt in and you can change that list anytime.

How automatic voting works

Managed wallets vote through VeBetterDAO's native auto-voting and relayer system. Your tokens always stay inside your own managed wallet — the platform never moves them anywhere else. A background job checks each managed wallet a few times per day and only acts when there is something useful to do.

Here is what happens after you qualify, opt in, and start earning rewards:

  1. You become eligible to vote. VeBetterPassport marks your wallet as eligible once you have enough recent qualifying actions (see Voting and Allocation Rounds).
  2. You choose apps and opt in. On your account page (or in Settings once eligible), pick the apps you want to support and save.
  3. Your B3TR is converted to VOT3. The platform converts your B3TR reward balance to VOT3 (the voting token) at a 1:1 ratio. VOT3 stays in your wallet — converting is what gives those tokens voting power. You can pause this by opting out of automatic voting or by withdrawing.
  4. Your wallet is enrolled in auto-voting. The platform sets your chosen apps and enables auto-voting on the VeBetterDAO XAllocationVoting contract.
  5. A relayer votes for you each round. From then on, a relayer casts votes for your selected apps on your wallet's behalf in every active allocation round, using your VOT3 as voting power. You receive the corresponding voting rewards.

After you opt in, this flow runs in the background. There are no portals to visit and no VTHO gas fees to worry about. You can change which apps you support or pause automatic voting anytime in Settings.

Voting status on your account

Your account page and Account settings → Voting show the current voting status of your managed wallet. Common statuses you may see:

Status What it means
Auto-voting active Your wallet is enrolled and the relayer is voting for your selected apps each round.
Auto-voting starting next round You're enrolled, but a vote hasn't yet been observed for the current round. The next round will be cast automatically.
Stake in progress / Enrolment in progress The platform is in the middle of converting your B3TR to VOT3 or enabling auto-voting.
Choose apps to turn on voting You qualify and have at least 1 B3TR. Opt in on your account (or in Settings) by picking apps.
Voting unlocks when you qualify You have not opted in yet and are not eligible. Keep learning until you qualify and earn at least 1 B3TR.
Voting paused: opted out You turned off automatic voting in Settings after opting in. Re-enable there to resume.
Voting paused: not yet eligible After opt-in, you lost eligibility (for example, not enough recent actions). Voting will resume automatically once you qualify again.
Voting paused: low VOT3 balance Your converted balance is too small to cast a meaningful vote (for example, after a withdrawal). Earning more rewards will resume voting automatically.
No balance to stake You have no rewards in the wallet. Complete a course to start earning.

If your wallet ever loses eligibility (for example, you go more than 12 weeks without completing a course), the platform will re-enable auto-voting automatically once you become eligible again — as long as you have not opted out.

Benefits

Benefit Details
Hold duration multiplier The longer you keep tokens converted to VOT3, the higher your reward multiplier grows, boosting every future course payout.
Automatic voting rewards When the relayer votes on your behalf each round, you receive a share of that round's VeBetterDAO voter reward pool in your managed wallet.
Low friction after opt-in After you opt in, no weekly portal visits or gas fees; change preferences or pause in Settings.
Note

The Terrademia Last allocation vote course multiplier is only available on self-hosted wallets. Managed wallets still earn VeBetterDAO voting rewards through auto-voting, but that Terrademia payout bonus is not applied to managed accounts. Course rewards are never conditioned on voting for Terrademia.

Example

Say you earn 5 B3TR from a course. With your tokens held as VOT3 for 30+ days, your hold duration multiplier might add +0.5 to your total multiplier. If your overall multiplier is x2.5, that same course pays you 12.5 B3TR instead of the base 5 B3TR — and on top of that, if automatic voting is enabled, the relayer keeps voting for your selected apps each round.

Over time, keeping your tokens converted compounds your earnings significantly.

Withdrawing your tokens

Your tokens are always yours. When you're ready, you can withdraw at any time:

  • Withdrawing converts your VOT3 back to B3TR at the same 1:1 ratio.
  • Your hold duration multiplier resets when you withdraw.
  • You can withdraw any amount, partial or full.
  • If your remaining balance is too small to vote with, the relayer will pause auto-voting until you build the balance back up.
Warning

Withdrawing resets your hold duration multiplier to zero. If you've been building this bonus over several weeks, consider whether the withdrawal is worth the reset. You can check your current multiplier breakdown on your account page.

Switching to a self-hosted wallet

When the feature is enabled, you can move from a managed wallet to your own VeChain address (for example VeWorld) from Account settings → Wallet:

  1. Withdraw all B3TR from the managed wallet (start from Account settings → Wallet; this pauses automatic voting so new rewards are not staked while you switch). Withdrawals are limited to once every 24 hours.
  2. Wait until the withdrawal (and any pending voting update) confirms.
  3. Enter your self-hosted address and confirm the switch.

After switching, Terrademia no longer stakes, votes, or withdraws for you. New course rewards go to your self-hosted address. You keep the option of self-hosted reward multipliers. Dust under 1 B3TR may remain on the old managed address.

Managed wallet security and custody

If you're curious about the security model for managed wallets on our platform, here's a deeper breakdown of how your funds and private keys are protected:

Managed wallet security is structured as a three-step process:

  1. Platform interacts with a separate signing service:
Our main platform never directly accesses private keys. Instead, all blockchain transactions — such as staking, enrolment, auto-voting, and withdrawals — are sent as requests to an isolated, dedicated signing service. This separation means your keys are never exposed to our platform, user interfaces, or staff.

  2. Signing service manages encrypted private keys and enforces strict controls:
The signing service encrypts and stores private keys securely, never keeping them in plain text. Only a limited set of operations are allowed: staking, enrolment in auto-voting, and withdrawals. Every signing request is audited and logged, and the service constantly checks for anomalous or unauthorized activity. Arbitrary or blockchain-unsafe operations are not allowed.

  3. Signing service is protected by a hardware-backed Key Management System (KMS):
All cryptographic operations and key storage are performed within a secure KMS environment. This hardware isolation makes it extremely difficult to extract or misuse keys — even if the signing service itself is compromised. Regular audits and monitoring further enhance protection.

If you prefer to manage your own keys and vote manually, see Self-Hosted Wallets.
